Happy Wedding Party

The wedding of our son and daughter-in-law was so beautiful. It was, however, 2 years ago. The photographer took 1,653 photos and I've been using my inability to choose amongst them as an excuse for not getting wedding pictures into the scrapbook.

That's all behind me now because I've now scrapped the first one. It should get easier from here on out. With so many to choose from I've decided to do 20 layouts. 1 down...19 to go.

I based the layout on the November 1st sketch from Stuck?! designed by Laura Whitaker. I also used the layout to participate in the colour challenge over at Scrapmuch?

The Scrapmuch? challenge colours were perfect for the kid's wedding. Purple and green were their colours. I think that if it weren't for this colour challenge I'd still be looking at the box of wedding photos a year from now. I have four of the six colours in my layout; green, purple, black and cream.

The more scrapbooking I do the more interesting I find my interpretation of the sketches are.

Initially if the sketch had a circle I did a circle. If it had two patterned papers I used that same number. Now I'm interpreting and it's opened up a whole new layer of scrapbooking.

In this case:
I used a curved feather instead of something circular but still accomplished the arch effect.
Instead of two paper ribbons, I used real ribbons and layered them.
Instead of 3 square pictures I used one rectangular one.
My corner embellishment started at the corner but went on to form part of the right side of the page.
I didn't use a top contrast paper as the treetops created that effect for me.
I didn't use a title and didn't feel guilty for it. Whew! It's part of a wedding album so it didn't really need one.

I think I'm actually having a scrapbooking growth spurt.

  9. I love your interpretation of the sketch! I too am sometimes too literal like that. Then I find myself frustrated because I don't like the way the page is going. I have to clear everything away, take a deep breath, and take a more roundabout approach to the sketch. Thanks for sharing!
