Cave Spring

I'm excited to return to work on my Niagara-on-the-Lake vacation scrapbook.

For sure one has to include wine tasting from their time in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

I enjoyed a wonderful dinner while there and had enjoyed an amazing wine from Cave Spring. The problem was that it couldn't be purchased outside of the restaurant. So what's a girl with a taste for a particular wine to do? Why hunt down the winery of course.

Armed with the Internet and a GPS, and not afraid to use either, I located the winery within an hours drive and enjoyed a lovely tasting. I scored myself 8 bottles of the elusive vintage. Alas only two bottles remain.

The sketch for my layout came from Scrapmuch?, and was designed by Laura Whitaker. I earmarked it right away for my Cave Spring memories. The price list was the perfect replacement for the suggested stacked pictures.

I had a great time with embellishments. My goal was to keep an earthy vibe. I accomplished this with a very basic mixture of fibers and colours.

I laid a tangerine coloured paper flower on a circle of burlap, inserting behind the flower some burlap leaves inked with green to match the matting behind my photos. The top of a Cave Spring wine bottle top became the center of my flower. I loved that the flower had words on it like the accent paper on my layout.

This is another wonderful button given me by the friend I spoke of yesterday. She has the most unique buttons I've ever seen. I tied gold embroidery floss through the button and glued it to a brass oval. I love it!
